SIR – Can we trust our councillors? They said they were looking for a way to keep the Odeon but they had been backed into a corner because they could no longer hide behind English Heritage, and were liable to be sued for hundreds of thousands of pounds, so had to vote for demolition.
Now we know this is not the case, surely the vote must be null and void as it was taken under a false premise?
The whole affair seems to be a tissue of half-truths and misleading statements. We may never know the truth.
The councillors know that their political careers are at risk if they don’t start listening to the voters.
If they do the decent thing and rescind the vote and while there is a possibility that the ‘Bradford five’, who fell on their political swords had been misinformed, maybe we should give them another chance, although I know this is not a popular view.
If I employed an architect who came up with so many unacceptable designs, I would have sacked him long ago.
