SIR – I would like to thank all the members of Bradford Odeon Rescue Group who worked so hard and at great personal expense in the vain attempt to save our Odeon but, unfortunately, they could not offer the financial support given by Langtree Artisan (as reported in the T&A), which is always a deciding factor in these issues.
Would it be possible, however, for your paper to name the councillors for and against in the final decision?
I would like to know how the electorate was represented. On another note, I see that our Council is now asking us which old and loved buildings we would like to keep and renovate. What a laugh! Closing the stable door...
Elaine Neale, Gordon Terrace, Idle
Editor’s Note: To clarify, the Council is asking which LISTED buildings the public would most like to preserve. Of the seven councillors at the meeting, the five who voted in favour of demolishing the Odeon were: Councillors Michael Ellis, David Servant, Christopher Greaves, Robin Owens and David Robinson. The votes of the remaining two, Councillors Margaret Chadwick and Sajawal Hussain, were not recorded as either against or as abstentions because of the clear majority.
