SIR - On a recent visit to Ward 12 of the BRI to see an elderly neighbour, I was appalled to see the laxity of the ward she was in.
One nurse who was taking my neighbour's temperature found the instrument didn't work and all she said was: "Oh, I won't bother taking the temperature."
Also, I noticed discarded orange peel and plastic wrappers under my neighbour's bed, which I know she hadn't put there as she is a very weak, ill person being 86.
One doctor who saw a plastic glove on the floor just put it back in the socket on the side wall instead of throwing it away.
Talk about hygiene. Things are not altering for the best, are they?
