SIR - At a public meeting at the Midland Hotel on February 11, 2008, Jan Anderson, director of Yorkshire Forward, owners of the Odeon Cinema building, confirmed that should BORG come up with a suitable plan for the property which could be properly funded, then they would agree to sell to them.
Well, BORG have indeed come up with a magnificent plan and funding arrangements will hopefully follow in the not-too-distant future.
I was therefore extremely concerned to find that Yorkshire Forward have since entered into a legal development agreement with Langtree/Artisan, their preferred developers. This is scandalous.
In view of Ms Anderson's pledge at the above meeting, we have a right to expect BORG to be allowed to try and complete their proposal.
If they can do so, and that means that Yorkshire Forward have to pay compensation to Langtree/Artisan to be released from their agreement, then so be it. The pledge should mean exactly that.
