SIR - Thirty-four members of the Mistry family who live in Lidget Green have given £3,250, with the promise of more after they have held their charity night in May, to the school for the blind in Gujarat, India, so that they can build three dormitories and provide beds for the pupils who, at present, sleep on the floor (T&A, April 19).
This in itself is magnanimous, but the family have already given Bradford Royal Infirmary a £5,000 bladder scanner and three babywarmer mattresses for the maternity unit, costing £4,000 and intend to buy a Sunshine Coach for the UK's Variety Club children's charity.
The Mistrys have made a valuable and positive contribution to the district as well as promoting cohesion in a culturally diverse city.
They fully deserve being nominated for a Community Harmony Award in 2009.
