SIR - It is expected that Mr Brown hopes to find some way of placating his rebel MPs with some adjustment to tax to help the low paid and pensioners who lost out due to the abolition of the 10p rate.
I hope he doesn't expect HM Revenue & Customs to deal with this in a hurry. I have found my tax code very strange and have phoned, waited in a queue, got an inadequate response and written to them.
My query was supposed to have been dealt with two weeks ago. I also contacted a different tax office about my mother's incorrect tax payments and they are currently dealing with post dated March 21.
I don't think there is going to be any quick fix to this tax problem which will satisfy the low paid and pensioners who have once again been robbed by a selfish government who look after the middle classes.
