SIR - In response to Mrs S Ratnik (T&A, January 7) on free bus passes for senior citizens, do you receive child allowance? My parents didn't. Do you receive free medical treatment? My parents didn't.
You only work part-time. My parents worked full-time during the war years (compulsory).
Do you live with ration books? My parents did.
Do you have a nice bath and hot running water? My parents didn't.
Did you do two years National Service in the army for a pittance? My parents and their children did.
Although we were poor, we were rich, we were happy.
So don't be spiteful and begrudge our little perk. You will eventually receive your free bus pass. Will you accept it?
