SIR - Correspondent Steve Wilson (T&A, September 4) rightly berates our inept council for past mistakes.

An inner city ring road that ends at a T-Junction, last in the country to build a shopping centre repeated now by the proposed One City Park office block. Pedestrians, hill hugging cyclists and buses get preference over cash cow cars and our two dead end stations remain so.

Now is the time to re-shape our city, tunnel together the stations to make just one Interchange, connect the ring road to do what it says, relocate the Magistrates Court to vacant land adjacent to the Law Courts, grass it over and plant trees on the office block.

It is now space not white elephants that attract people to a city centre. That is why Leeds now propose a central park.
