SIR - If the letters in the T&A are anything to go by, the general view seems to be satisfaction that the Park at the Heart Lottery bid was turned aside.

I am sure most people support your Brilliant Bradford campaign, and perhaps now is the time to look at projects that will either be of more benefit to Bradford, or enjoy substantial support.

These could well include:

  • A through railway station, perhaps situated within a re-design Broadway shopping complex.
  • A much reduced Park at the Heart scheme, simply providing a grassed and seated area, and with an attractive fountain feature.
  • A refurbished Odeon building to serve as a concert hall, conference and exhibition hall.

Finally, surely questions need to be asked about the proposed Bradford Canal. Is this really a viable proposition?

How many locks will be involved, and will there be sufficient attraction to encourage pleasure craft to drive along its course?
