SIR - The Liberal Democrats need not worry about getting blood on their hands (J Cole, T&A letters, September 1) because they never have to make meaningful decisions. They may get a bit of ink on their fingers from the very easy task of making lists with hindsight of the way they would have done thinks during these unique times.

At the appropriate time, examination of the decisions taken must be made and lessons learned but give some thought for the people having to guide us though these difficult times.
