SIR - Recent reports in the T&A have quoted Mr Khan, Mr Bashir and Judge Jonathan Rose bemoaning the state of Bradford`s crime situation we are all well aware of.
The police quite clearly do everything they can given the limitations of resources and the law, but Judge Rose hit the nail on the head.
Until sentencing reflects the epidemic situation it will not be brought under control. Long sentences need to be available to the courts for even first offenders instead of the current situation where they are allowed bail to re-offend, community service or totally inadequate short sentences.
Until punishment fits the crime, we are on a downward spiral.
