SIR - I welcome your recent coverage of the Holme Wood and Tong Neighbourhood Development Plan. Along with residents and other Councillors, including Cllr Wainwright, I was involved in the creation of the plan. It was adopted by the Council in January 2012.
It is an ambitious plan and rightly so. Cllr Alan Wainwright, Cllr Kausar Mukhtar and I are ambitious for Tong Ward and indeed the wider district of Bradford Council.
Since 2012 Tong Councillors have continued to support the plan and lobby for it to be delivered. That’s why I attended a meeting of the Council’s Regulatory and Appeals Committee to oppose what I saw as a planning application which would have an adverse effect on the sustainable development of Holme Wood. This meeting can be viewed on the Council website in the webcast library.
What’s needed now is for the plan to be delivered. Not only does it include a new shopping centre but a new road and new houses to meet the needs of future generations.
