SIR - Chief Medical Officer Dr Jenny Harries is correct to say that schoolchildren are more at risk from normal flu and road accidents going back to school than from coronavirus. She could've also mentioned traffic pollution which badly affects children's health.

There is also evidence that Covid-19 transmission form children to adults and teachers is very low, if there's any at all.

The concerns that parents and unions are expressing at the school return after lockdown are understandable. But many of the people opposing the return on health and safety grounds are quite happy to contribute to the dangers children face in normal times without seeming to care about it. Obesity being another big problem.
