SIR - Sitting in the House of Commons is Early Day Motion 189 which asks the following: "This House notes that over a year has passed since the Christmas saving company Farepak collapsed; further notes the collapse forced many families into the arms of debt lenders who charge extortionate rates of interest; believes the victims of Farepak are entitled to justice and those responsible for the Farepak collapse should be held accountable for their actions; notes many of the innocent victims of the Farepak collapse have not received any compensation, believes compensation must now be made available; calls on the Government to introduce legislation to ensure a Farepak-style collapse cannot happen again and for the Government to publish the report into the collapse".
Very few EDMs are actually debated. EDMs known as prayers' motions to overturn Statutory Instruments may be debated.
As it stands, 107 MPs have supported EDM 189. The Farepak Victims Committee has contacted all MPs asking for their support - we believe there must be a Farepak victim in every constituency and would therefore ask them to contact their MP asking them if they have given them support, and if not why not?
