SIR - I have no sympathy with the Council's failed Lottery bid for Park at the Heart.
The area in Forster Square would make a far better communal space and there are organisations in Bradford doing excellent environmental work who I'm sure could deliver the goods at a fraction of the cost that the Council would pay to outside contractors.
Bradford Community Environmental Project, Bradford Environmental Action Trust and Forest of Bradford, together with the volunteers they attract have the necessary skills and experience to crate a tranquil and beautiful space.
The Council can now share the frustration of many of its citizens who have been campaigning for the renovation and adoption of many of its streets.
They have the audacity to bring out the begging bowl, expecting hard-pressed taxpayers to pay for its ridiculous scheme.
If the Council was to campaign to raise funds to carry out long overdue and necessary work to give people a decent environment outside their homes, we may be prepared to dig into our pockets to help finance something which would really benefit us and future generations.
