SIR - I appreciate Philip Davies MP is desperate to obtain coverage in the press at all costs, but it might be a good idea if he were to examine the record of Professor Rogers before he accuses him of living in an ivory tower because his views on the dangers of terrorism do not accord with his own (T&A, November 19).

Professor Rogers has been consulted for many years by the police and armed services about the threats this country faces, and I think I prefer his approach through reasoned analysis and careful research, as obviously do the people who consult him.

I am also interested to know that marketing for Asda is sufficiently real world to entitle our MP to speak with authority on these matters or is it that he has been made privy to information that Parliament is keeping from the rest of us?
