SIR - After the terrible death of George Floyd in Minnesota, thousands have protested violently across the US and now we are seeing protests in London, because the victim was black.
Although the behaviour of the police is a disgrace to the force and should be rightfully punished, the behaviour of some of the protesters is also appalling. And some commentators have tried to use lines from the famous civil rights activist Martin Luther King to justify their actions but I'm sure he would not have approved of this violence. Many have referenced the great man who made the "I have a dream" speech in 1968 as an inspiration, but the difference is huge.
There is no similarity between King and today's woke brigade. What King rightly said was that no one should be judged by the colour of their skin. He wanted differences NOT to be noticed.
But those who play identity politics today are doing the very opposite of what King wanted. They are more conscious about differences than ever. And sadly this is the same across all areas of diversity and inclusion.
