AN ARTWORK that appeared on the side of a house in Bristol was confirmed as the work of street artist Banksy. The piece features a stencil of a girl firing a slingshot of red flowers made with spray-painted ivy.

This was classed as ‘art’ yet the person who daubed lettering across it - damaging it - was seen as a ‘vandal.’

Is it right that Banksy - whoever he is - should be able to randomly inflict his art upon communities? If I decided to do that on a house in my neighbourhood I would expect the police to come knocking on my door.

Sorry to be killjoy, but if anyone else painted on a random building it would be classed as graffiti and scrubbed off. And how did he do it in a busy street without anyone seeing?
