SIR - The lack of progress by Westfield in getting a move on in rebuilding Bradford city centre is in stark contrast to the enthusiasm in which the future of the Odeon is being vigorously fought for by certain individuals.

Anyway, might I remind Bradford Council of how destructive, long term, their apparent Nero type approach could be?

Have a look around Bradford Interchange, any day, especially between 9.30am and 11am and behold the exodus of folk heading off for Leeds, Halifax and Huddersfield with their cash which will stay at their points of disembarkation and not darken a Bradford till.

Even more ironic is the fact many of these departing customers qualify for free travel! Essentially, it's a no-brainer and Bradford Council s complacency is naïve in the extreme.

Beware of people who are habit-formed, who have taken on the routine of shopping elsewhere and thus create their own comfort zone away from home territory.

Will Bradford have the nous to tempt them back? I'm not so sure.
