SIR - Action needs taking now on pavement parking. The council nor the police take any notice. However, the police say parking/obstructing a pavement is an offence. Yet they do nothing because it isn't actually a by-law as in London.

The police say that driving on the pavement is an offence and penalise anyone caught. So why aren't they penalising pavement parkers? It stands to reason that they have driven onto the pavement in order to park/obstruct.

Let's have clarity and quick action to stop this selfish act by drivers. If the police won't do it then the council should.
