SIR - I should think by now nobody should be in denial about climate change but, when you have governments and the likes of Al Gore making political gain and money out of it, it makes sceptics of many.

Hilary Benn says we must reduce our own emissions by 60 per cent. This will amount to a global reduction of 1.6 per cent. Wow!

One expert on climate change said Kyoto would have little impact since it involved over 100 countries and promised little success on global reduction on CO2 emissions.

Efforts, he said, must be made to get the 20 chief culprits round the table, to reduce theirs meaningfully.

A tall order I know, but the weakness of the West in saying it is only fair that pressure should be put on the likes of China and India to cut theirs, when we were the past culprits, does not help one iota.

As to Keith Thomson's remarks about films challenging Al Gore's having to disclose the financial interests of their producers is rich.

How much publicity is given to the billions paid out in subsidies to wind turbine manufactures, when it is patently obvious wind is not an answer.
