SIR - Immigration isn't a black or white issue any more, it's about the need to make sure Britain can provide for its people.

As David Cameron has spelled out, uncontrolled immigration has put enormous pressure on local services. Many local people - from every community of Bradford - have raised their concerns with me about the impact of immigrants on health, schools and crime.

It's not just that people are concerned about immigration, but that the Government is in denial about the numbers and impact of all these people arriving into local communities.

The Government's failure to adequately fund local councils is creating real community tensions. There is already huge pressure on health and education and this will only get worse if the influx of economic immigrants isn't controlled.

The Prime Minister recently fuelled the immigration debate by calling for "British jobs for British workers" without explaining what he meant or how such a plan might be delivered.

I feel the Prime Minister's words are hollow and might be seen in some communities as threatening.

I'd like to see more unemployed young people in Bradford getting jobs but the Government's policies on immigration are making this ever more unlikely.
