SIR - I have to say that I was completely staggered by Councillor Vanda Greenwood's audacity in trying to claim that the forthcoming post office closures were due to Bradford Council rather than the Government (T&A, October 24).
She must know this was a decision taken by the Government and announced to Parliament by them and that the Post Office has the Government as its one and only shareholder.
Post Offices will be closing in every part of the country. Is she really trying to claim this is the fault of each and every local Council in the country?
The Government and its agencies have systematically taken business away from post offices over the last ten years, with the result that many villages will have this essential local service removed.
I know we have become used to spin from Labour, but Coun Greenwood's letter has taken this to a new level.
Let us have a full and frank debate about issues, but misleading people in this way only serves to further undermine faith in politics and politicians.
