SIR – In the 1950s there was a famous group of climbers from the Bradford area who used to visit the Lake District on a regular basis - they were known as the Bradford Lads and they included such well-know climbers as Arthur Dolphin, Peter Greenwood and Harold Drasdo who were to leave their mark on the Lakeland Crags with some spectacular new routes.
Another member of this loose-knit band was Don Hopkin, who recorded a new climb on Pillar Rock in 1953 with Neil Mather.
I am writing a history of climbing on Pillar Rock and am trying to locate a portrait photo of Don taken around that date.
Don came from Idle near Bradford and I am hoping one of your readers may be able to help.
