SIR - Bradford Council reports that more than 15,000 households are living in "overcrowded conditions" (T&A, November 11).

Whilst no-one wants to live in cramped housing, this does perhaps beg the question as to why much of this is taking place?

If a person has a smallish house then surely they would ensure that they restrict family growth until they can afford to move to more suitable accommodation. Whilst this is not the case with all situations, one has to wonder just how much of this "overcrowding" is self inflicted and really could be avoided.
