SIR - We've heard a lot about childhood obesity recently as well as the protests about pollution being a serious world crisis. Now now we're getting Jess Phillips MP leaving her child on the steps of Number 10 to protest about school cuts.

Firstly, why were these cuts necessary? And secondly, why don't people just stop having kids? I know it's complicated but a majority of births are planned.

The Earth isn't going to miss the human race and many parents who show off about having children don't even look after them properly. And all over the world particularly in the poorest places, birth control is mentioned not nearly enough as a solution to many problems.
