TELEGRAPH & Argus Camera Club member Ian Bale submitted a picture of a rally car taken 35 years ago.

You can tell this is a period shot because the car – a Fiat 127 – ceased production in 1983 (although it lived on as various SEATs and Yugos for many years after). The sponsor, Yardley, is one of the oldest cosmetics firms in the world.

Derek Rhodes’ second picture isn’t of a motorsport event – but the slow shutter speed certainly emphasises the speed of the car.

Both photographers receive a free print of their images courtesy of Bradford Camera Exchange, in Northgate.
