SIR - I find it perplexing that when a branch of my bank was closing for good recently they gave me a leaflet that suggested I might find it more convenient to use my local Post Office for certain transactions.
The branch of my bank that I used to use had an ATM machine indoors that allowed me to choose the denominations of the notes I required. It now seems that staff at my local PO will be able to deal with my banking requirements face to face?
With Santander announcing the next tranche of branch closures I found it hard to believe in this age of modern technology that different banks are unable and even unwilling to work together to retain one building in a town or village that used to provide a joint service for all their customers.
Not everyone owns a hi-tech phone that is all sing and dancing, until the system goes down.
