SIR - It brought back some happy memories, seeing the pictures of Darley Street featured in the paper recently. The shopping area once had a distinct atmosphere, particularly at Christmas, and including the Kirkgate centre, was always a bustling, hive of activity to visit in those times and an enjoyable experience too.
The Broadway was a positive idea and is excellent but in hindsight it's easy to see now that many shops situated on Darley street and in the Kirkgate would want to move to the new indoor centre, knowing it would become the primary magnet for Bradford shoppers.
Will the present plans to reinvigorate Darley Street be a success? It must be considered a gamble, particularly in these present times for the high street. But it would be nice to see Bradford having two main shopping areas once again.
