SIR - I am puzzled by Kevin Howley's assertion in the T& A (December 8) that Mary Hopkin's only hit record was Those Were The Days, giving the credit for this success to Paul McCartney and the Beatles. Back in those days I was alive and kicking and loved the music of the times and remember that this beautiful Welsh songstress's first appearance was on Opportunity Knocks. She debuted in the music charts with this song and followed it up with further hits like Goodbye and Knock, Knock ,Who's There. Both of these records reached number 2 in the music charts, so surely she had more than one hit record?
