SIR - A football field is probably the most disease ridden spat on piece of ground ever, and professional footballers kiss it!
It should be totally banned, that remark of ‘clearing the airways’ is a total load of cobblers.
I played amateur football for 25 years, and never spat on the field, I needed it to get through.
It is a bad example to junior footballers.
