SIR - It's sad to see Bradford City in its present plight and David Hopkin is clearly doing all he can to turn things around in difficult circumstances.
People of a certain age will remember his namesake, folk singer Mary Hopkin. She had a big hit record, "Those were the days," in the charts 50 years ago. As well as knocking the Beatles' "Hey, Jude" off the top spot, after only two weeks, it stayed at no 1 for six consecutive weeks.
"Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end." The song's first lines, seem so appropriate and, though it was only a few years since the team was having such success in the League and FA cups and going for promotion, it seems a long time now!
