SIR-We will shortly be entering the period known as 'Remembrance' when we recall those who suffered and were casualties of war. The red poppy represents the British armed forces but millions of civilians have also died or been damaged by war. If you believe we can best honour the memory of all the victims of war by standing up against war itself, wear a white poppy, either on its own or in addition to the red poppy.
