SIR - Can it really be true? The IMF-of all organisations-criticising (neoliberal) Conservative policies deployed over decades in this country, such as privatisation of public assets and 'reducing the size of the state'?
Answer: Yes, the IMF did indeed do this in a report they published just last week and blamed these actions for placing the current British finances in such a weak state.
Of 31 countries, including the UK, whose finances they examined, only Portugal was worse!
