SIR - The words of Theresa May at the Tory Party conference had hardly left her lips 'austerity is coming to an end', when Works and Pensions Minister Esther Mcvey revealed that millions of families on universal credit benefit will lose £200 a month, this would see half of all lone parents and two thirds of working age groups lose around £2,400 per year and those with a disabled child who stay on in education post 19 losing up to £600.
Food bank usage is up by 50 per cent in some areas and I'm pleased to hear that Labour's shadow chancellor John McDonnell has stated he would scrap universal credit and halt people's lives being wrecked
