SIR - Bradford Council supposedly wants the district to be an attractive tourist destination but, at the same time, takes actions that will instead deter people from wanting to come, or return, again.

They have now decided to close the Visitor Information Centre in Haworth, in addition to having no interest in providing toilets in this and other venues (T&A, September 29).

Our inept Council, with its strange sense of priorities, simply doesn't deserve to be viewed as a welcoming area at all.

It is all very well Labour Councillor Sarah Ferriby highlighting various Council assets being retained by transferring them to town councils, who will then provide the funding.

However, let's be honest, town council precepts are simply a way of increasing our rates by the back door and thereby retaining certain assets but through the pockets of parish ratepayers.
