SIR - Republican Labour MP Emma Dent was among those who have made angry comments about Princess Eugenie's forthcoming royal wedding. The British taxpayer is having to stump up £2 million for security requirements for the big day as the couple are to be transported in an open carriage, when the Princess is only 9th in succession and has no official royal duties.
I would like to defend the royal couple by assuring any concerned taxpayers that this £2 million bill is not £2 million each! And this fact makes a significant difference to our personal finances. Let them have their big day and let's all enjoy it.
And to say the Queen should pay for her granddaughter's wedding is an insult to Her Majesty and is tantamount to treason.
