SIR - A story is told that someone refuses to fly because he is afraid of the ‘plane crashing. A friend says: 'If your time is up, it is up’, but the person says: 'Maybe so, but I don’t want to die because the pilot’s time is up'.

I am reminded of this story because of the headline and leader in the T&A (August 31) regarding speeding drivers. If some drivers drive suicidally fast that is their concern, but I don’t want to be the ‘other’ party.
