SIR - Many thanks and apologies to Martin O'Hara for pointing out the omission I made about the actions of the British army in Northern Ireland on Bloody Sunday when troops did indeed use live rounds on innocent civilians, (T&A letters, June 2).

I personally have no problems with the legitimate aims peacefully pursued of Irish Republicans and deplore the criminal actions of troops on that day.

However, British troops and the Northern Irish police did not routinely use live rounds. The criticism of the Israeli Defence Force who do routinely use live rounds on huge numbers of innocent Palestinians of all ages still stands.
