SIR - It looks like our public parks are in the process of becoming another victim of Tory cuts, with local authorities being starved of funding in all areas.
This government is handing control of more and more public services to local authorities and insisting that they are ‘allowing’ them to raise council tax rates to pay for them.
This is, in effect, just a way for the government to abdicate all responsibility for the provision of public services. This gives them the opportunity to say “It’s nothing to do with us’’ when local authorities are forced to cut services.
They have the same regard for the NHS in blaming everyone from pensioners living too long and NHS tourism (a drop in the financial ocean) to “greedy” junior doctors for all the ills of the NHS.
Only when their starving the NHS of funds gives them a reason for privatisation will they be happy and feel they have achieved their ambitions.
