SIR – Is technology taking over our lives? While being exceedingly clever and useful, sometimes it is stopping nature.
You had a recent page on loneliness, for instance. All that is needed and wanted is an afternoon cuppa and a chat, occasionally away from one’s own four walls.
One hopes that children in schools have opportunities for talk and discussions when they can often learn from each other. Parents need time to discuss issues with friends and their own children, not always text messages, emails, Facebook, etc.
Too many taped messages on telephones which are especially a nuisance for people with hearing problems.
More discussions were needed prior to the decision by the EU for complete freedom of movement between countries. There has always been immigration but the decision caused absolute world chaos and suffering.
Therefore, let us advocate more conversations and less technology.
