SIR - I read the views in the T&A (Letters, January 9) about the art studios setting up in the old Marks & Spencer building.
What’s wrong with that? I think it is a great idea for aspiring artists to show off their work, especially when it is practically impossible to be able to afford to put on a private exhibition of your work.
On Monday I visited the craft market at the top of Darley Street, the display of crafts on show was superb and very reasonably priced, ideal for presents that are one-offs. You will never see another one like it.
We need shops that are different and diverse, and Darley street would be ideal, but I do agree, something has to be done, and reasonably quickly, as it looks a terribly sad and forgotten street.
