SIR - Can anyone remember when drain-cleaning wagons were seen on a regular basis, cleaning all road drains with big pipes sucking up all the debris?

Tyere was not the volume of debris then as there is today i.e. crisp packets, sweet wrappers, etc that we find strewing the streets.

The regular cleaning was to avoid diphtheria and polio.

Where is the service now? Rarely does one see these drainage cleaning services. In my opinion it's the lack of this service that contributes to flash flooding.
