SIR - Geoff Tasker well and truly hit the nail on the head in his defence of Tony Blair's government (T&A, June 13).
A leader with a record to be proud of, the NHS, in particular, provides a service second to none, this from someone who over the past six months has received excellent service.
M Byrne (T&A, May 10) omitted to mention one of New Labour's biggest achievements, the National Minimum Wage, admittedly not as high as it should be, but one must remember that only a decade ago under the callous Tories some adults were working for £1.50 an hour.
Tony Blair has more integrity, sincerity and charisma than Old Etonian Cameron will ever have. Thanks for giving us our country back.
Tony, the very best of luck and have a long and happy retirement, you've earned it.
