SIR – Bradford Council has soon to appoint a new Chief Executive.

My concern being that over the past many years, we have had so many different people for these important positions, for example: The Architect, W. Allsop, who wanted to flood the Bradford end of Thornton Road with duck boards as walkways and flocks of flamingos strutted about; can’t imagine where all the traffic would have gone, plus would these kinds of birds would be accustomed to our weather?

Then Maud Marshall, whom my wife and I met in an office in Little Germany when she was first appointed, advising us that she was from Glasgow.

Then all those from far away places on top salaries from the rate payers’ hard-earned cash and now all moved on.

Is there no one out there who lives, or has lived, in Bradford for a reasonable time – and who knows our city – available to take on this important position?

I don’t envy the hardworking leader of the council, Dave Green, having to chair the meeting, albeit the decision for the position is firmly on the shoulders of all the many elected councillors in Bradford.
