SIR – Regarding your reporter’s revealing statistic into drivers who use mobile phones while at the wheel (15 drivers in such mode spotted in one hour at a major junction on the Wakefield Road).
Prior to this, we thought that motorists were actually committing a motoring offence if they were not on the phone and driving over the speed limit, such is the number routinely observed in Bradford.
For some the ability to drive in such a manner, usually in turbocharged vehicles with darkly tinted windows, is a rite of passage.
It should surprise nobody, therefore, that two of the six worst postcodes in the UK for the soaring cost of motor insurance, fuelled by the disproportionate number of accidents (some fatal) and related claims, are BD2 and BD3. What happened to David Ward MP’s pledge to rid us of these potential killers?
