Why not replace empire with Europe?
SIR - The New Year Honours List has arrived, when CBE, MBE, OBE, medals will be awarded. With the letter “E” denoting “empire”, which no longer exists. Therefore shouldn’t the word “empire” be replaced with the word “Europe”, as we are now part of the EU? For example “MBE” (Member of British Empire) would become “MBE” (Member of British Europe) and so on!
