SIR - The increase in instances of anti-Semitism not only In Europe, but also in the UK, is very disturbing, and a serious step on the road to eventual perdition.
Since Oliver Cromwell’s time, Jews have been welcome residents of this country and have no history of making unreasonable cultural or religious demands, just quietly going about their daily lives.
But you have to wonder why should anyone protest about anything in this country which is not directly connected with us. Most of the recent happenings overseas, although getting both our sympathy and emergency aid, are by definition beyond either the control, or influence of the Government.
Also, while Christians of many branches of that faith are being actively persecuted all over the world, expats of those areas affected living here never seem to offer one word of protest about this – why?
Could it be that tolerance or intolerance is only ever one-sided, which if true does not bode well for future social, racial or religious cohesion or harmony here.
