SIR - As a passionate supporter of Help the Aged, I am encouraging readers to sign up for its latest challenge event, Trek India 2007, to raise vital funds for disadvantaged older people in the UK and overseas.

Trek India, from October 13-23, 2007, includes trekking one of the world's most breathtaking mountain ranges, the Indian Himalayas.

Trekkers will discover the beautiful valleys of Himachal Pradesh, walk across a glacier, visit the Dalai Lama's home in Dharamshala and have the opportunity to sleep under the stars.

Trekkers will stopover in Delhi to visit one of Help Age India's most important projects, the Mobile Medicare Units.

Trek India is open to anyone over the age of 18. The entry fee is just £99 until February 28, rather than £195. Participants will then need to commit to raising £2,600 in sponsorship. Help the Aged will offer support, a free fundraising pack, tips, advice and inspiration.

For further details contact Gemma Randall at Help the Aged on 020 7239 1922, e-mail treks@ helptheaged.org.uk or visit www.helptheaged.org.uk/events.
