SIR - So Lottery funds, which are presumably raised by ticket sales across the UK, are being siphoned off to pay for the London Olympics.

I am sure that the disabled children and homeless people in Bradford whose grants are being cut will be more than comforted by the news from the Government that the benefits of the Games to the nation will far outstrip' any hardship and suffering they experience.

In fact we should all try to take heart as it is a meaningless and untrue mantra we are going to hear over and over again between now and 2012.
